A general-purpose assistant from Google with a free tier, tiered paid plans bundled with Google storage, and links into Gmail, Docs and Chrome. Output quality, real usage limits and how Google handles chats and human review are not yet checked. Editorial interpretation

This review is based on Google's own plan page, privacy hub and help pages. We have not run hands-on tests yet. A tested score will be added only after the planned tests are run.

Capability and output quality: editor's rating 7/10, no hands-on test yet

• Known so far: Google lists image generation and editing, Deep Research, Gemini Live and Canvas on the Free plan, and says Gemini can be inaccurate, especially on complex or factual topics ¹³. We found no accuracy figures we could cite.
• Planned test: Run the same drafting, summary, analysis and image tasks and score each against a standard written first.

Reliability and consistency: editor's rating 5/10, no hands-on test yet

• Known so far: Google says usage limits in the app depend on prompt complexity, features used and chat length, refresh every 5 hours and also have a weekly limit ¹. The page names no uptime figure.
• Planned test: Repeat the same prompts across days and log refusals, errors and the point at which limits apply.

Workflow fit and integrations: editor's rating 7.5/10, no hands-on test yet

• Known so far: Paid plans list Gemini in Gmail, Docs, Vids and Chrome, a mobile app and a desktop version ¹². Help pages say a personal, work (qualifying Workspace) or school Google Account is needed to sign in ⁴.
• Planned test: Use it for a real week of email, document and research work; log what needed re-doing.

Pricing and value: editor's rating 6.5/10, no hands-on test yet

• Known so far: Free at $0; Google AI Plus $4.99, AI Pro $19.99, AI Ultra from $99.99 a month; each paid tier bundles storage ¹.
• Planned test: Find how soon the usage limits are reached on each tier for a fixed workload.

Privacy and security evidence: editor's rating 5/10, no hands-on test yet

• Known so far: The privacy hub describes human review, an 18-month default auto-delete, a 72-hour retention for temporary chats and training use when Keep Activity is on ². No third-party audit or certification was found on the pages read; unverified.
• Planned test: Read the privacy hub settings end to end and confirm what each toggle changes on a test account.

Support and documentation: editor's rating 5/10, no hands-on test yet

• Known so far: A public Gemini Apps Help center, a privacy hub and an overview explainer exist ²³⁴. No support channels or response times were found on the pages read.

What is Gemini?

Gemini is Google's AI assistant app, on web and mobile. Google's overview says "Gemini is an interface to a multimodal LLM (handling text, audio, images and more)" ³. This review covers the app and the Google AI plans, not Gemini Code Assist.

What do independent users report about Gemini?

Strengths. Google's plan page lists a broad free tier and, on paid tiers, Gemini inside Gmail, Docs and Chrome alongside cloud storage ¹. Vendor documentation

Drawbacks and risks. Google's own overview warns that responses can be inaccurate and can invent information ³. The plan page's FAQ names a different model (3.1 Pro) than the plan table (Gemini 4 Argon), and its country counts differ between the table and the footnote, so check the live page ¹. We found no independent test of Gemini we could cite today.

What does Google say Gemini is?

Google says it wants the Gemini app "to be the most helpful and personal AI assistant, giving users direct access to Google’s latest AI models" ³. Vendor claim

Where does Gemini work?

The Gemini app on web and mobile, plus a desktop version, and inside Gmail, Docs, Vids and Chrome on paid plans ¹². Sign-in needs a personal Google Account, a work account on a qualifying Workspace edition (18 or over) or a school account enabled by an administrator ⁴.

How is Gemini deployed?

Cloud service run by Google; no self-hosted or local option was found on the pages read. Business use goes through Gemini Enterprise, which Google lists separately with its own seat prices ¹.

What limits and constraints does Gemini state?

Google says app usage limits factor in prompt complexity, the features used and chat length, refresh every 5 hours until a weekly limit, and can be extended by buying AI credits ¹. It also says paid plans are for ages 18 and over, some features are limited to select countries, and cancellations carry no refunds for partial billing periods except as required by law ¹.

What do we know about Gemini data, privacy and security?

Google's privacy hub (last updated October 26, 2026) says: "Please don’t enter confidential information that you wouldn’t want a reviewer to see or Google to use to improve our services, including machine-learning technologies." ² With Keep Activity on, activity is used to improve services, including training generative AI models, and is auto-deleted after 18 months by default (3 or 36 months, or never, on request) ². Chats reviewed by human reviewers are kept for up to three years and are not deleted when you delete your activity ². Temporary chats and chats with Keep Activity off are kept for 72 hours and are not used to train models, unless you send feedback ². For Gemini Enterprise, Google says customer data is not used to train its models ¹. No SOC 2, ISO or similar report was found on the pages read. Status: unverified. Vendor claim

How much does Gemini cost?

Checked 2026-10-30 on Google's US plans page ¹. Prices differ by region: the Israel version of the same page lists shekel prices, for example ₪19 a month for Plus, ₪74.9 for Pro and from ₪390 for Ultra. The Ultra tier is listed at two levels, $99.99 and $199.99 a month.

Google says you can cancel anytime, with no refunds for partial billing periods except as required by law ¹. Budget for list price.

What limits should you know about?

• Usage limits are compute-based, so how much a plan really gives depends on how you use it ¹.
• Human review of some chats is on by default; you must change settings to avoid it for future chats ².
• Google's plan page is inconsistent on model names and country counts ¹.

How do you get started with Gemini?

Some features work without signing in; sign in with a Google Account to save activity ⁴. Review the Keep Activity and temporary chat settings in the privacy hub before pasting work material ².

How will we test Gemini?

We will give Gemini a fixed set of drafting, summarizing, document-analysis and image tasks in English and Hebrew, score accuracy and editing effort, log when usage limits apply on the Free and Pro tiers, and confirm on a test account what each privacy setting changes.

How does Gemini compare with Claude?

Both are general assistants on web and mobile with free and paid tiers ¹⁵. Gemini is bundled with Google storage and Google apps; the main difference we can state from public pages is the ecosystem and the privacy settings, which differ.
