Use Grok Bot on iPhone or Android to start work, answer questions, approve steps, and review results away from your desk.

The mobile app connects to the same Bots, conversations, routines, connectors, and shared cloud computer as the desktop app. Work continues in the cloud when the app is closed.

Requirements

  • iPhone with iOS 18 or later, or a phone with Android 9 or later
  • An eligible plan: Premium, Super, or Ultra on The X Subscription, for an individual or a team seat. On a legacy Cursor plan, every paid individual plan and Cursor Teams include Grok Bot, and you can also link an individual SuperGrok, SuperGrok Plus, SuperGrok Heavy, or X Premium+ subscription. See Grok Bot on The X Subscription and Plans and billing.
  • Internet connection

The iOS app also runs on iPad (iPadOS 18 or later).

Download Grok Bot from the App Store on iPhone or Google Play on Android.

Sign in and set up

  1. Open Grok Bot.
  2. Choose Log In or Sign Up.
  3. Complete Cursor authentication in the browser with the same Cursor account you use on desktop or web.
  4. Return to the app. If your access comes from a SuperGrok or X Premium+ subscription, choose Link Grok Account when the access screen asks, finish signing in to Grok in the browser, then choose Finished Linking? Refresh My Status. A link made on desktop or the web also works on the phone with the same Cursor account.

New users can complete the first-run tour, choose a first Bot, and wait while the shared computer is set up. Existing users go directly to their synced Bot list.

Enable notifications if you want to know when a Bot has a result, question, or approval request. While you use the desktop app on macOS or Windows, notifications from Bots you own go to the desktop instead; see Control notifications for when your phone is still notified.

There is no setting that keeps your phone quiet only while the desktop app is open. To stop alerts for one Bot, tap the Bot's name at the top of its chat and turn off Notifications; the note there is Get notified when this Bot finishes or is waiting for you. Off means that Bot does not notify you, including on your phone. On desktop, ask the Bot to turn its notifications off. To stop phone alerts for every Bot, open Settings on the phone and turn off Notifications. If the phone says Notifications are off, choose Open Settings and allow notifications for Grok Bot there only if you want them back.

Access and subscriptions

Grok Bot access carries into mobile when you sign in with the same Cursor account. This includes:

  • Premium, Super, or Ultra on The X Subscription, including team seats
  • Legacy Cursor Ultra, Cursor Pro+, or Cursor Pro
  • Legacy Cursor Teams (self-serve) seats
  • SuperGrok, SuperGrok Plus, or SuperGrok Heavy account links
  • X Premium+ account links

You should not buy a second subscription through Apple or Google Play in these cases. You can still upgrade within your plans, such as Pro+ to Ultra. A Cursor plan and a SuperGrok or X Premium+ link do not add together; Grok Bot uses whichever one grants more weekly usage. Your phone and desktop share the same usage on your Cursor account.

Subscribe from the phone

If your Cursor account doesn't already include Grok Bot, subscribe from the mobile app:

  1. Open Grok Bot on your phone.
  2. Choose a plan on the paywall screen.
  3. Complete the in-app purchase through the App Store on iOS or Google Play on Android.

Only monthly individual plans are available through the mobile app. For yearly billing, Teams, or Enterprise plans, subscribe on cursor.com. If you subscribed in the app and want on-demand usage, enable it on the web.

Manage or cancel a phone subscription

The store you bought through handles the subscription, including store free trials (intro offers). Cursor can't cancel an in-app plan or refund it for you.

  • iOS: Apple handles in-app subscriptions. Cancel or change the plan in Apple ID → Subscriptions before a trial ends if you do not want it to convert to a paid subscription. For Apple billing questions and refunds, use Apple's subscription support.
  • Android: Google Play handles in-app subscriptions. Cancel or change the plan in the Google Play app under Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions. For Google Play billing questions and refunds, use Google Play's refund support. Android has no in-app trial.

The Grok Bot usage-credit trial claimed on web or desktop is separate; see Is there a free trial?.

Message a Bot

From a conversation, you can:

  • Send text
  • Dictate a message with Start dictation
  • Start a voice chat with Start voice chat
  • Play a voice memo a Bot sent
  • Take or attach a photo
  • Choose an image or file
  • Mention another Bot or @everyone in a group
  • Reply in a thread
  • React to a message

Drafts are saved per conversation when you navigate away.

On iPhone, use the system share sheet and choose Grok Bot to send a photo, file, link, or text into a chat. Pick a chat, then choose Attach. The item lands in that conversation's composer so you can add a message and send it. On Android, the share sheet currently accepts text.

Choose Start voice chat when the composer is empty to talk with the Bot live. While you are on the line, a Voice chat control stays under the header. See Message and collaborate.

When a Bot prepares an email or Slack message, the conversation can show a draft you can edit. Choose Send or Discard.

Use Siri, Shortcuts, and Live Activities on iPhone

Grok Bot adds shortcuts you can run from Siri, Spotlight, or the Shortcuts app: List Bots, Send Message, Start Dictation, and Start Voice Chat. For example, say "Send a message in Grok Bot."

Start Dictation lets you dictate a message to a Bot without opening the app, as long as your iPhone is unlocked. While it runs, a Live Activity on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island shows its progress, with buttons to cancel or send. A voice chat also shows a Live Activity while you're on the line.

On an iPhone with an Action Button, you can press it to talk with a Bot. In your iPhone's Settings, choose Action Button, swipe to Shortcut, and choose Grok Bot > Start Voice Chat. If you don't pick a Bot for the shortcut, Grok Bot asks which one. Press it again while you're on the line to hang up.

Create Bots and groups

Use the + control on the home screen to choose New Bot or New Group Chat. You can also edit a Bot profile, manage group members, pin or hide a conversation, and delete a Bot.

Review the computer

Open the computer from a conversation when you need to:

  • Watch browser or desktop work
  • Take over for a password, two-factor code, or CAPTCHA
  • Inspect the current screen
  • Hand control back with I'm done

The screen is the same shared computer used by every Bot on your account.

Updating and recovering the computer aren't available on mobile. Use desktop Grok Bot to update or recover it, or to reconnect your phone when the computer won't connect; see The computer cannot be reached.

Let a Bot use your phone's apps

A Bot can use some apps on your phone when you ask, such as checking your calendar or setting a timer. This works only in your own chat with a Bot you own in the Grok Bot app. It doesn't work in group chats, in other apps such as Slack, or with a shared Bot someone else owns.

On iPhone and Android:

  • Calendar: read your events, and add, change, or delete them. New events go in your default calendar unless you name another one. The Bot can't change or delete a repeating event, and it never invites anyone.
  • Contacts: look someone up by name for a phone number, email, address, or birthday. The Bot only reads your contacts. If you shared only some contacts with Grok Bot, it sees only those.
  • Location: read where your phone is right now. The Bot gets a position, not an address or place name, and how precise it is depends on your phone's location settings.
  • Alarms: set an alarm or start a timer. An alarm rings once, the next time your phone's clock shows that time, so it can't be set more than 24 hours ahead. A timer runs for up to 24 hours. The Bot can't list, change, or cancel alarms and timers.

On iPhone only:

  • Reminders: read your reminders, and add, change, check off, or delete them. New reminders go in your default list unless you name another one.
  • Home: read your Apple Home accessories and change them, such as lights, fans, blinds, thermostats, locks, garage doors, and security systems.

On iPhone, alarms and timers need a newer version of iOS than Grok Bot itself requires. If your iPhone can't set them, Alarms doesn't appear under This iPhone, and the Bot can't set alarms or timers on it. On Android, the phone passes alarms and timers to your Clock app, which may open. The Clock app doesn't confirm that it saved them, so the Bot asks you to check there.

Keep Grok Bot open on your phone

The Bot can reach your phone only while Grok Bot is open on it. If the app is closed or in the background, the Bot can't use your phone's apps and asks you to open Grok Bot on your phone, then try again.

If Grok Bot is open on more than one phone, the Bot uses the phone you sent your message from when it can. Otherwise it prefers a phone that already has the permission it needs.

Allow an app

Most apps need your phone's permission before the Bot can use them. To give it ahead of time, open Settings → Connect apps and choose iPhone, iPad, or Android next to All. Your apps are listed under This iPhone, This iPad, or This device:

  • Allow asks your phone for the permission.
  • Allowed means the permission is on.
  • Denied means the permission was turned down. Choose Open Settings and turn it on in your phone's settings.

An app that needs no permission, such as Alarms on Android, shows what it does instead. Choose an app to see its details.

If you haven't allowed an app yet, the Bot asks the first time it needs it. The chat shows a Grok Bot needs permission card with the app and the phone. Choose Allow, or Open Settings if the permission was turned down before. Answer on the phone the card names; your other devices show where to give permission. When the card shows Allow, the Bot waits up to five minutes for you to choose it. If you allow the app later, within an hour, the Bot can pick the request back up without you asking again.

Approve what the Bot does

Your team's admin can limit what Bots do on your devices with Execution on Local Computer. When your team has set a limit, each phone's page in Manage your devices shows it under Tools on this device, with a note that says what your team's admin allows:

  • Ask every time: each use shows an approval card with Allow once and Deny. Answer it on the phone the card names; your other devices point you to that phone.
  • Never allow: Bots can't use your phone's apps.
  • Always allow: the Bot uses your phone's apps without asking.

When there's no team limit, the page doesn't show Tools on this device. If Auto Review is on, it checks each use and can stop to ask whether the Bot may use a connected app. With Auto Review off, the Bot uses your phone's apps without asking. Locks, garage doors, and security systems follow the same rules as other Home changes. See Review an action.

Manage your devices

Open Settings → Bot → Manage your devices to see the phones and computers where you use Grok Bot. The device you're holding comes first, then devices that are online. Each one shows This device, Online now, or when it was last opened.

Choose a device to open its page:

  • Choose Name to rename it.
  • For a computer, Execution on this device sets whether Bots can run commands on it: Ask every time, Always allow, or Never allow. Your team's limit can rule out some choices.
  • To remove another computer, choose Remove Computer while it's offline. Restarting Grok Bot on that computer adds it back. Phones can't be removed.

On desktop, the same list is under Settings → Computer → Manage devices.

Manage recurring work

Open a Bot's profile to review its routines. You can inspect the schedule, next run, instruction, and Run history, use Active to pause or resume a routine, and swipe a routine in the list to delete it.

To change a routine, open it and choose Edit routine. The Bot's chat opens with a draft that asks it to edit the routine; describe the change and send it. To start a new routine, choose Add routine under Routines on the Bot's profile. Testing a routine requires the desktop app.

Search and review prior work

Use search from the home screen to find results across Messages, Bots, Group Chats, Files, and Routines, or All at once. Conversation actions provide quick access to common controls such as pin and hide.

Pages and the Library

Tap a page's card in a conversation to open it. To change who can view a page you own, tap the share button at the top of the open page; see Share a page. Renaming a page currently requires the desktop app. To change what's on a page, ask the Bot in the conversation.

Each Bot has a Library. Tap the Bot's name at the top of the chat to open its profile, then tap Library. It lists the pages linked in the conversation and the images, videos, files, and links in it, including ones you sent, newest first under Today, This week, and Older. Tap Show more to look further back in the conversation.

  • A page you own shows whether it's Private, Team, or Public on its row. Touch and hold the row for Open, Share, Copy Link, and Open in Web. Share sends the page's link; to change who can view it, open the page and tap the share button.
  • Tap an image to view it full screen, a video to play it, a file to preview it, or a link to open it in your browser.

If the Library can't load, tap Try Again.

See Message and collaborate for group behavior and Troubleshooting for computer recovery.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to buy a second subscription for the phone app?

Not if your Cursor account already includes Grok Bot, whether through The X Subscription, a legacy Cursor plan, or a linked SuperGrok or X Premium+ account. If it does not, you can subscribe monthly in the app.

How do I cancel a subscription bought in the app?

Through the store you bought it from. On iOS use Apple ID → Subscriptions, and on Android use Payments & subscriptions in Google Play. Cursor cannot cancel or refund an in-app plan for you.

Can a Bot use apps on my phone?

Yes, in your own chat with a Bot you own, while Grok Bot is open on the phone. Calendar, Contacts, Location and Alarms work on both platforms; Reminders and Home are iPhone only. It does not work in group chats or with another person's shared Bot.
