What is the evaluation status of Replit?
This review is based on Replit's own pricing page, product pages and documentation. We have not run hands-on tests yet. A tested score will be added only after the planned tests are run.
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Pricing | Partly verified: plan prices read on the vendor pricing page (checked 2026-10-30); the page's FAQ answers and some credit tiers were not readable |
| Security | Unverified: vendor claims only; no report seen |
| Hands-on tests | None run |
The six areas we plan to test. The editor's rating below is separate from these planned tests.
Capability and output quality: editor's rating 7/10, no hands-on test yet
- Known so far: Replit says Agent builds web apps, mobile apps, slides, designs and data visualizations from plain language and can test its own work in a browser 36. We found no independent measure of output quality.
- Planned test: Give Agent the same three app briefs on each plan; record whether each app runs, passes a fixed checklist and needs fixes.
Reliability and consistency: editor's rating 5/10, no hands-on test yet
- Known so far: The pricing page says Agent's "behavior is probabilistic - meaning it may occasionally make mistakes" 1. The support policy says reviewing Agent's code is the user's responsibility 12. No uptime figure or SLA was found on the pages read.
- Planned test: Repeat the same brief several times and log how much the results differ and how many follow-up prompts each needs.
Workflow fit and integrations: editor's rating 7.5/10, no hands-on test yet
- Known so far: Built-in database, authentication, hosting and monitoring, 100+ integrations, a Design Canvas and Plan mode 28.
- Planned test: Build a small app with a login and a database, publish it, then change it by chat; log setup time and errors.
Pricing and value: editor's rating 5/10, no hands-on test yet
- Known so far: Core and Pro monthly prices, plan credits, and paid Agent modes billed by effort 17. Publishing and production databases are billed separately by usage 13.
- Planned test: Record credits spent per finished app and per follow-up change, in each Agent mode.
Privacy and security evidence: editor's rating 5/10, no hands-on test yet
- Known so far: Vendor pages claim SOC 2 Type II, GDPR compliance, isolated per-customer cloud projects and pre-publish security scanning 45. Replit's docs say content is used to improve its models, with an opt-out for Pro and no training on Enterprise content 11. No report was seen.
- Planned test: Request the SOC 2 report; read the data-processing terms and check where each plan's opt-out applies.
Support and documentation: editor's rating 5/10, no hands-on test yet
- Known so far: Extensive public docs. Core includes AI-powered support; Pro and Enterprise add access to a support engineer on weekdays 12. Support does not debug individual application code 12.
- Planned test: Raise one billing and one platform question on each tier and time the replies.
What is Replit?
Replit is a browser-based platform for building and publishing software with AI. Its home page says: "Describe and publish your project. Replit writes production-ready code, evolves it, and stays out of your way." 2
What do independent users report about Replit?
Strengths. One workspace covers building, a database, authentication, hosting and publishing, so there is less to assemble 26. A Free Mode allowance lets people try Agent before paying 810. Vendor documentation
Drawbacks and risks. Paid Agent work is billed by effort and some Agent features call third-party model APIs billed at the provider's rate from your credits, so cost per project is hard to predict 7. Replit's docs say model improvement uses your content, and only Pro users are documented as able to opt out 11. We found no independent test of Replit we could cite today.
What does Replit say Replit is?
Replit's footer describes it as "the AI platform that helps you turn your ideas into real outcomes" for creating, launching and growing apps, sites, tools and businesses 1. The Agent page describes it as "like having an engineering team on demand, with no coding experience required" 3. Vendor claim
Where does Replit work?
In a web browser, with a hosted development environment 28. Replit's docs say Agent can build web apps and mobile apps 6. We did not find a list of supported operating systems or editors on the pages read.
How is Replit deployed?
As a cloud service. The security page says data is hosted on Google Cloud Platform and that every customer gets an isolated Google Cloud project, even on the free tier 4. Enterprise adds single-tenant and private networking options 1. We found no self-hosted option on the pages read.
What limits and constraints does Replit state?
- Starter: Lite build only, one published app that goes down after 30 days, no connectors and no Plan mode 10.
- Free Mode allowances on Core and Pro refresh every five hours and have weekly limits 6. Replit says it asks for confirmation before a paid action starts 7.
- Core invites up to 5 builders and runs one background task at a time; Pro allows up to 15 builders and 10 tasks 89.
- Production database storage is capped at 100 GiB per database on paid plans and 1 GiB on Starter 13.
What do we know about Replit data, privacy and security?
Replit says it holds SOC 2 Type II certification, complies with GDPR and is "working toward ISO 27001 certification" 4. Its trust center says it is audited annually by an independent CPA firm 5. It says secrets are injected at runtime and are never visible to the AI Agent 4. Its docs say it uses prompts and generated responses to improve its models; Pro users can opt out and Enterprise content is not used for training 11. Retention periods were not stated on the pages read; the privacy policy says data is deleted or de-identified when no longer needed, unless law requires keeping it 14. Status: unverified. Vendor claim
What are the key features of Replit?
- Replit Agent, with Free, Power and Max modes and model routing 68
- Plan mode, Design Canvas and a Visual Editor 8
- Built-in database, authentication, hosting and monitoring 2
- 100+ integrations and connectors, including Stripe and Google 28
- Security scanning before publish and Auto-Protect monitoring 4
- Enterprise SSO, SCIM, audit logs and role-based access control 14
How much does Replit cost?
Checked 2026-10-30 on Replit's pricing page 1. Plans include monthly credits towards paid Agent work, publishing and databases; more can be bought as credit packs 713. The Pro section also lists higher monthly figures ($215, $425, $825 and $2,000) next to its credit selector; the credit amounts they buy were not in the text we read.
| Plan | Monthly price | Billed annually | Included, as listed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | Free | — | Daily Agent credits and Lite build 10 |
| Core | $20 per month | $18 per month | $20 towards more powerful models; up to 60 projects on Free Mode 1 |
| Pro | $100 per month | $90 per month | $100 towards the most powerful models; up to 15 collaborators; database rollback up to 28 days 1 |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | SSO, SCIM and audit logs; single-tenant and private networking options 1 |
The pricing page says prices are subject to tax by location 1. Starter's free tier is described in the docs, not on the pricing page we read 10. Pay-as-you-go effort-based rates were not on the pages read; the docs say paid modes are billed by request complexity 7.
What limits should you know about?
- Effort-based billing and third-party model costs make per-project cost variable 7.
- Publishing and production databases are billed by usage beyond plan credits 13.
- Model-improvement opt-out is documented for Pro and Enterprise only 11.
- Security claims are unverified, and the trust center content did not load without scripts.
How do you get started with Replit?
Sign up, describe an app in the prompt box, and start in Free Mode; Replit says it asks for confirmation before a paid action starts 27. Set a budget alert on the billing page before using Power or Max 7.
How will we test Replit?
We will give Agent a fixed set of app briefs, publish the results, count follow-up prompts needed to reach a working app, record credits spent per project in Free, Power and Max modes, and check the data-use controls on each plan.
How does Replit compare with Cursor?
Replit centres on describing an app in a browser and having it built, hosted and published in one place 2; Cursor is an editor-based coding assistant covered in our Cursor review 15. Editorial interpretation: the tools overlap on code generation but fit different workflows, and we have not compared them in a test.
What is the final verdict on Replit?
Replit offers a broad build-and-host workflow with published plan prices and a usage-credit model. Output quality, real cost per project and the evidence behind its compliance claims are the main open questions. Not tested yet. Editorial interpretation
